ABLE students will...
contribute time, energy, and talent, to improve the quality of life in their school and community;
foster acceptance of individual differences and demonstrate skills for resolving conflicts; and
be mindful, self-evaluators in their academic, communal, and personal lives.
I’m the type of person who would hate to make anyone feel bad, so I used to be a people pleaser. I would give so much energy to other people that I didn’t give any to myself. I became so drained, but I was too scared to have people hate me. I didn’t want anyone to dislike me. I learned that if people didn’t want to be my friend, because of small simple things then they weren’t truly a friend. I’ve always believed that we should treat one another, how we would like to be treated. I stopped giving so much effort to other people and I decided to focus much more on myself.
Reflection
Throughout this progress, I’ve lost friends, and the ones who truly are my friends stayed with me. I even made more friends; through these people, they’ve taught me so much. I’m so grateful to have met such wonderful people, and also for the people who dislike me. They’ve taught me to only care about my opinion, not others. These experiences have taught me to become a much better person. Being much more accepting of others and their opinions. Making me able to connect to others much easier because I never want to make someone feel lonely. Even if I dislike a person, I would never want them to feel like they don’t have anyone to go with. Meeting new people has led me to learn so much more about different perspectives on certain beliefs or popular events. Letting me be much more understanding and open to new ideas
