SLO #5: College and Career Readiness

ABLE students will….

• Exemplify the cognitive skills or oral and written communication;

• Self-manage and engage faithfully and purposefully with the content of each academic discipline to achieve high-level outcomes and products - including good grades; and

• Demonstrate leadership skills and techniques

As I'm writing this there are about 5 months until I graduate, I've applied to colleges and waiting for their responses and I have early acceptance to two other colleges. I'm terrified to think about what will happen after high school. I am also excited about it, it will be something that I've never experienced before and it will be the first time I am away from home by myself. Throughout my time at ABLE, I have always been able to stay on track with my classes. I balanced school, sports, and work. Even when it is tiring, I try my best to keep up and to just keep pushing because I know that in the long run, it will benefit me. The only time I had a grade lower than an A was during COVID, but once we came back I managed to always have multiple A's on my report card. For my junior and senior years, I've managed to keep straight A's. I've learned so much through my high school years, from teachers and peers. I am just grateful to have spent my high school years with whom I spent them. I can't wait to see what happens after high school.

Helping Hands

During our win time, I and two other students decided to start tutoring. We had to make a whole PowerPoint about what we were going to do and how we would measure the student's improvement. After presenting to Scroope and Mrs. Porta. When we were given permission and when we are able to go, we began to test the students to see what level they were at. This entire thing has taught me so much, for example, patience, responsibility, and time management. These are all important skills I will need for my future. Whether it is in my career or college. I will have to be understanding and patient with new people that I meet.
